A new start

From my last post which was a very long time ago I’ve been busy doing other things and life has taken over ! However I have decided to blog on and try and keep this blog going.

It’s now 2020 and what we all thought was going to be a new year with lots of lovely things to look forward to has become instead a living nightmare for the whole world.  Sadly the virus that started in China in January has now become a silent killer globally with many deaths worldwide. The only positive thing that has come out of this pandemic is that people have become kinder and more compassionate to each other and doing wonderful things.

When this finally comes to an end and medical science finds a way to eliminate Covid 19 I hope that this kindness will continue and we become a better society.  We have all had to adjust to extreme measures to live by and life as we have known it has become a different way of life.  We are adjusting just as humans do and in the past such as the first and second world wars people found a resourcefulness that they never though or imagined they could possibly have.  Lets hope that we can learn from those generations and do the same.

Stay safe , stay home and BE KIND

Hello 👋👋

It’s been so long since I felt like blogging and sharing things on here. I think out of the three blogs I have this is probably the one that I will be using and posting the most as I’m still busy upcycling and crafting so much and always have something on the go. So I need to get my mojo back and take time out to post the things that I’m up to recently and currently and also the things during the years
(where did they go ?) that I haven’t posted here. So probably in a weeks time I will take time to sit down and share my crafts, upcycling and things that generally make me happy in my life.

Have a great weekend

Happiness is ..........

Upcycling, painting, shabby chic-ing and searching for pieces to take from junk to funk !
I love my job and it's so satisfying when someone loves the pieces I upcycle enough to buy them.

This is a 1930's  suitcase which I painted in Annie Sloan 'Paris grey'
Then I decoupaged it with Roses cut out of wall paper I the. Painted and papered the inside

This is a customers own stool that she asked me to decoupage with Roses. I used paper napkins. It's a tricky technique as only one layer of the three is used so it's very thin and tears easily. But the end result is amazing as it looks like it was painted on.

These are two clay pots that I first painted and then Decoupaged when all the area is finally covered I coat the pots with a couple of coats of varnish which makes them usable as the inside is painted and varnished too.

I haven't visited this blog in a while !

Even though it's one of my own blogs I just haven't been on here for ages, and I'm so glad I did as I had forgotten how amazing the flowers were last year from both the garden and the allotment.

Sometimes it seems like we will never have decent weather again, and then today the sun shone and it was milder and that gives just a tiny glimpse of whats to come in a month or so.

I can't wait to go from this kind of weather

To this again !

Happy New Year

Our Beautiful World

We truly live in a beautiful world and I for one am so thankful that I have my garden to potter about in, plant my flowers and enjoy the results. To garden is for me good exercise, fresh air, mood lifting, relaxing and creative.  Growing plants from seed is the most rewarding thing of all.  Just watching a seedling appear from where I sowed a tiny seed is exciting and the joy of seeing the plant grow and then produce some amazing flower is just the best thing ever.

This year I grew more flowers from seed than I have ever done in the past and I have great pleasure in knowing that I saved a small fortune and also also feel very smug that I can fill the vases in the house for free, and give some to neighbours and friends.  The best have been the Zinnias and the Asters which are still up until today producing loads of blooms.  The dahlias that I grew from seeds last year are this year stunning, both in the garden and on my allotment plot. Here below is a selection of photo's of the flowers.

A Spring Garden

Just a little tour around my Spring Garden Starting with the beautiful Kerria shrub right outside my kitchen window.

One of my Blueberry bushes ( above) has masses of flowers as does the other one, so I'm hoping for my biggest harvest yet. Yummy !!

The last photo's of the little Cerinthe plants have a water droplet in the middle that looked just like a jewel, the camera couldn't quite capture the beauty.
